Lemon Oatmeal Cleansing Gel

*Aloe (Barbadensis) Inner leaf juice

Organic Aloe barbadensis, grown in Australia, is a succulent plant that offers many benefits and is suited for all skin types, especially dry, damaged, broken, sensitive and irritated skin. As well as being an effective cleanser, It offers anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, humectant and soothing, anti-itch qualities for the skin.

The ingredient provides a gentle foaming action, It is palm-free and instead is manufactured from Coconut fats. This ingredient will not produce a high foaming product, so if you like that foaming feeling with your cleansing gel, our Lemon Oatmeal Cleansing Gel, may not be for you, however, keep in mind that high foaming cleansers are often harsh on the skin and can strip the natural oils and sweat from glands, our skin depends on to stay healthy. The acid mantle has an acidic pH. The pH is the measurement of the acidity or alkalinity of body fluid. With a pH between 4 and 6.5, the skin is protected from bacterial and fungal infection as well as water loss. The acid mantle also supports the barrier function of the stratum corneum. If the acid mantle loses its acidity, the skin becomes susceptible to damage and infection as well as irritation and sensitivity.

*Vegetable glycerine 

A colourless sweet viscous liquid derived from Flaxseeds that have been farmed organically. It is a by-product of the soap-making process, which separates the glycerin from the fatty acids in the whole oil. Our Organic Glycerine is Palm Free. Glycerine is a natural humectant, which means it helps to hold moisture in the skin. 

Avena sativa colloidal oatmeal

A naturally occurring organic powder with cleansing, barrier, moisturizing and anti-itch properties. Oats contain saponins, a type of chemical compound found in abundance in the plant kingdom. Producing foam when dissolved in water, saponins work much like soap by binding with grease and oil molecules so they can be rinsed away. Colloidal oatmeal is much gentler than soap, however, since its cleansing action only works on the surface of the skin. And because it doesn’t penetrate deeply and strip away oils, using it won’t dry out and damage the skin’s barrier.

* Ananas sativus (pineapple) extract.

Pineapples contain Bromelain, an enzyme that assists in skin debridement (peeling), this gentle exfoliating action helps to gently boost collagen production by removing dead skin cells.  This in turn helps to brighten and smoothe the complexion, leaving it looking fresh and clean. 

In addition to this key enzyme Pineapple extract is also rich in Vitamin C and trace B Vitamins which help protect against oxidation and with moisturising the skin.

*Carica papaya fruit extract

Papaya is excellent at helping stabilise oily skin & works as an exfoliant on dry areas. Papaya Fruit Liquid Extract is often used for its natural rejuvenating and regenerating properties.
Salix alba (white Willow Bark) Extract

Willow bark contains salicylic acid, derived from salicin and natural and gentle exfoliant. White willow bark helps to clear and cleanse skin by sloughing off dead skin cells, making way for fresh, bright and radiant skin.

Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerine, Sorbic Acid (natural preservative)

Lippia Citriodora (Lemon Verbena) Essential Oil

Good for problem acneic skins, a good cleanser and detoxifier, also used for its refreshing uplifting fragrance.

*Citrus limon (Lemon) Essential Oil

In skin care, Lemon essential oil has been known to have astringent properties which can counter act overproduction of sebum, naturally exfoliating, helping to clear. Lemon oil is Anti-bacterial.

*Pelargonium graveolens(Bourbon Geranium) Essential Oil

Geranium is an attractive plant with large flowers in a myriad of stunning colours. It originates in southern Europe and Egypt, loving the more dry arid climates. It is a tonic to the nervous system and helps with anxiety and depression.

Geranium has antiseptic and astringent properties and is a good cleanser and balancer of sebum, which is a fatty secretion in sebaceous glands which keeps the skin supple. It is good for oily and congested skin, it enlivens pale skin as it improves blood flow making it also helpful with mature skin.

 

Apply one or two pumps to wet facial skin and massage gently, until soft creamy, light foam forms, this product can be left on the skin to allow the active enzymes papain in the papaya and bromelain present in the pineapple to help dissolve dead skin cells. Splash with warm water and rinse clean. Apply Rose Facial Tonic and follow with serum or moisture cream.

This cleanser was created for all skin types, it is effective but gentle on the skin. Using harsh, high foaming cleansers over time can cause damage to the skin's protective barrier, stripping the natural oils and sweat excreted onto the skin, which is needed to keep it moisturised and healthy. The PH of the skin is a naturally acidic environment, and constant use of high foaming cleansers can cause the PH to become more alkaline. An Alkaline skin PH will affect the natural balance of oils and moisture and in turn cause the skin to become dry leading to redness and irritation, which can leave the skin's surface open to infection.
